Client J.V. was charged with one count of Assault with a Weapon. It was alleged that after a real- estate deal fell through, the accused sought revenge for the victim’s alleged part in the deal. It was alleged that the accused accosted the victim one afternoon outside of the victim’s workplace and began to physically assault the victim with a metal baseball bat, causing serious injuries that required medical attention. Once the case was before the court, and with surveillance footage provided by police, counsel mounted a vigorous defence, which resulted in the charge being withdrawn. No conviction, no criminal record.
